Black Soldier Fly Larvae Compost Inoculators for Sale
Turn your kitchen scraps into fish, chicken, hog, or reptile feed!
Our Black Soldier Fly Larvae Compost Inoculator contains 1000+ freshly hatched black soldier fly larvae and a small amount of feed to help them survive the journey to your compost.
BSFL will eat kitchen food scraps, meat, fruit, vegetables and manure. For best results build a compost bin with a good drain system (much like a worm bin); put in a few cups of food scraps; and place the bsfl inoculator face down in the compost. The bsfl will migrate into the compost and start feeding. They will nearly double in size every day as they devour the compost. Check on them each day and add more compost as needed. For best results do not overfeed them as that will result in foul odors and anaerobic bacteria in your bin.
The bsfl will feed at temperatures between 70 degrees F and 116 degrees F. They will die or crawl off if the bin is too hot (don’t place it in direct sunlight). Once they have developed to the pre-pupae stage they will crawl out of the compost and seek a dark, dry place to pupate and develop into a black soldier fly. Drill a series of holes roughly the diameter of a pencil around the top of your bin. (Totes and buckets make good bins.) Then, rough up the interior of the bin with sand paper, so that the pre-pupae can get enough traction to crawl out. Place your bin inside of a shallow plastic tray to catch the pre-pupae as they crawl out of the compost bin.
The larvae, pre-pupae, and pupae are high in protein and make excellent sustainable feeds for fish, chickens, hogs, and reptiles.
There are many more attributes of the black soldier fly:
1) Black soldier flies avoid human habitats.
2) Vectors cannot survive the digestive system of the black soldier fly larvae.
3) Adult flies do not have functioning mouth parts. They do not bite, sting, or eat, so they do not spread vectors and diseases. They only take water and mate.
4) Disease spreading domestic house fly larvae cannot compete with the black soldier fly larvae, so domestic house flies avoid laying eggs near black soldier flies. This makes the black soldier fly an excellent choice for processing hog/cattle manure where house flies can be a huge problem.
The cost is the equivalent of $15 USD plus shipping payable in Bitcoin only. We only ship within the continental USA. Contact us via email with your address and we will calculate the shipping and total cost in Bitcoin and provide you with our BTC address to fulfill payment.
